Heat Pump Information

How Does a Heat Pump Work?

Hot water heat pumps work by extracting heat from the surrounding air and transferring it to water, rather than generating heat directly.

Heat From Air, Transferred Into Water

A fan draws air into the heat pump’s evaporator, which contains a refrigerant that absorbs heat from the air.

As the refrigerant absorbs heat, it turns from a liquid into a gas. That gas is then compressed, raising its temperature significantly.

The hot, compressed refrigerant then passes through a condenser coil, where it transfers heat into the water storage tank.

Why It’s Efficient

Heat pumps are more energy-efficient than traditional gas or electric water heaters because they use electricity to move heat rather than directly generating it.

This can help lower running costs and reduce greenhouse emissions.

Choosing a Heat Pump

Choosing The Right Heat Pump

Not every home needs the same system. The right heat pump depends on your household size, usage, installation space and rebate eligibility.

Choosing a Heat Pump

Every Home Is Different

Our goal is to recommend a system that properly suits your home, rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all option.

Choosing the right heat pump system means looking at how your household uses hot water, what system you currently have installed, and what upgrade path makes the most sense long-term.

A properly selected heat pump can help improve efficiency, lower running costs and maximise available rebate opportunities.

What We Assess

✔ Household size and daily hot water usage

✔ Current electric, gas or solar system setup

✔ Available installation location and airflow

✔ Energy efficiency and running costs

✔ Victorian rebate eligibility requirements

✔ Long-term reliability and suitability

Household Size

Larger families may require bigger systems with higher storage capacity and faster recovery rates.

Current System

Your existing hot water setup can impact the best and most cost-effective upgrade path.

Installation Space

Outdoor airflow, access and positioning all play an important role in heat pump performance.

Rebate Eligibility

System selection needs to align with Victorian and Federal rebate program requirements.
